Acupuncture is an ancient form of medical treatment that goes back to as far as 2500 years ago. This treatment was said to be first invented in China and it has been very helpful to certain people to cure nausea or vomiting. The premise of acupuncture is all about the flow of energy in our body; when the smooth flow gets disrupted we tend to attract different kinds of diseases. In acupuncture, the skin is stimulated using needles and that is known to release negative energy. In simpler words acupuncturists insert a bunch of different needles into our body based upon their knowledge on the human anatomy. Acupuncture is known to very helpful for people who are in chemo.
Acupuncture and weight loss
Acupuncture is known to have many health benefits, one of them being weight loss of the patient. If someone is terminally obese and no diet or any other weight loss programme is working on them, then acupuncture is suggested. Huge obesity epidemics can be kept in control using acupuncture.
Does acupuncture really help in weight loss?
Now the answer to this question is a disputed one. Some will say yes while others will say no. If you are medical personnel or have a strong medical background then chances are your answer will be the latter. No one can say for sure that yes, acupuncture works like magic; neither can one absolutely dismiss this theory because impressive results are seen in the field of acupuncture.
Weight gain can be a side effect of extreme stress and acupuncture can relieve stress. Though there is no direct relation found between sticking a bunch of different needles in your body and miraculously losing weight yet some people will argue that as stress is released, our bodies start working normally and the excess fat that was stored due to the abnormality gets drained out.
Acupuncture simulates the brain which in turn feels hungry, reducing the brain’s hunger can lead to a feel-good state of the patient which will in turn relieve the stress. But not everyone can be an acupuncturist and shove different types of needles at random places. Acupuncturists need to be licensed by the government in order to practise acupuncture just like the doctors do.
If you think that acupuncture weight loss treatment will work like magic then probably you are wrong. It is said that our body needs time to heal and as we heal our weight goes down. If you think that one acupuncture therapy will make all the difference in your life then you are definitely wrong. You do not get slim by going to the gym once a month. You have to be committed and regular; same goes with acupuncture.
There are obviously people who will dismiss the idea of acupuncture altogether. It can just be the placebo effect. Having the hope that something is going to change can itself make you better. It differs from person to person whether acupuncture will work or not but definitely you cannot dismiss a 2500 years old medical practice!
